Protected routers on the very first Baikals appeared in Russia
"Rostec" has created protected routers based on the Russian "Baikal" processor with a modular design and the possibility of optimization for each specific customer. The devices were developed and assembled in Russia, and are designed for small companies with a staff of up to 50 people. The first batch of 2000 units, 3,000 more will be produced by the end of 2022.
Rostec State Corporation informed CNews about the start of production of Russian routers for a secure information structure. The devices were developed by specialists of Roselektronika Holding, part of Rostec.
New routers are produced in Russia and assembled on the basis of domestic processor of Baikal line. One of the peculiarities of the new products is their modular design, which makes it possible to customize the device for a particular customer.
Rostec routers are designed primarily for use in companies representing the small business segment. They are suitable for organizations with fewer than 50 employees.
When CNews asked whether there were the first customers interested in this innovation of "Roselektronika" representatives of Rostec could not answer at the time of publication.
Technical competitive advantages
Among the characteristics of routers is the support of PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology which allows to transmit not only information but also electricity through twisted pair. According to the developers, PoE support in the routers is implemented to quickly organize, for example, a video surveillance system without the need to find outlets to power the cameras.
The modular design is designed to connect, for example, a hard drive that could be used, among other things, in conjunction with video cameras in a surveillance system or as storage. It also allows the connection of various expansion modules "to obtain additional network interfaces and data transmission functions", Rostec told CNews.
