Tp link archer t4u plus linux
Good day to all.
For the first time I have to install programs through the terminal. And here is not without problems.
I need to setup a wireless connection to a Linux Mint 20.3 system. For this purpose I bought a Linux-supported Wi-Fi adapter TP-LINK Archer T4U(EU). On the official TP-Link website I downloaded the Linux drivers: https://www.tp-link.com/ru/support/download/archer-t4u/
And when I tried to install them on my computer through the terminal, this is what I get: (see attachment)
My question is: What am I doing wrong? How do I install these drivers through the terminal?
Don't judge strictly, this is the first time I had to install a program downloaded from the Internet through the terminal, before that all the programs were installed through the program manager, and there were no problems.
Based on the output of lsusb UID google prompts that the working driver for this scrollbar lives here: https://github.com/morrownr/88x2bu-20210702

How to install the TP-LINK Archer T4U(EU) Wi-Fi adapter in Linux Mint 20.3
You should have unpacked the package first, I guess. The command didn't have the file name to the end (there must have been something else behind the dot). But it makes no sense all the same.
There is no way. Not from the terminal and there is no other way to install these drivers on current versions of linux mint. They are for old cores. It says on the site that the maximum is 4.11 and now in mint 5.xx

If you are used to Git, you can clone the driver’s repository:
$ git clone https://github.com/abperiasamy/rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux.git $ cd rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux/
You don’t need to use Git, it’s just a convenience for those who already use it. If that’s not your case, visit the community driver page at GitHub, click on Clone or download and then on Download ZIP to download the driver’s source code:
The zipped (compressed) file contains all the files that make up the source code. Unzip those files:
$ unzip rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux-master.zip $ cd rtl8812AU_8821AU_linux-master
You need to install the packages gcc, make, dkms and kernel-default-devel to be able to build the driver from source:
# zypper ref # zypper in gcc make dkms kernel-default-devel
(I suppose you use the default kernel, provided by the kernel-default package)
Hands-on!
Inside the folder where the driver source is, run the following to build it and install it:
Please note that the driver is not yet immediately loaded. The following command should return nothing:
Run the following commands to load the driver and check it is indeed loaded:
# modprobe rtl8812au # lsmod | grep rtl8812au rtl8812au 1368064 0 cfg80211 593920 5 mac80211,rtl8812au,ath9k,ath,ath9k_common usbcore 245760 10 uvcvideo,usbhid,rtl8812au,ehci_hcd,xhci_pci,rtsx_usb,ath3k,btusb,xhci_hcd,ehci_pci
You need to repeat the hands-on section commands every time you update the kernel.
