Tp link usb wifi driver android

Sergey

TP-Link has many good Wi-Fi adapters that can be used to connect to wireless networks on desktop computers and laptops. The TL-WN822N is great for PCs. Especially if you need a high performance adapter with good signal reception. It can also be used with laptops, but it is not very compact. Compared to the TP-Link TL-WN725N. But it is faster and more powerful. And Wi-Fi will catch better.

For a desktop computer, I think the TP-Link TL-WN822N is perfect. It connects via the USB cable that comes with the kit. The cable is 1.5 meters long. It allows you to bring the adapter out on the table, for even better reception. The cable is of high quality (compared to cheap extension cords), which also has a good effect on the work of the adapter itself.

From the technical characteristics I would like to highlight the Wi-Fi network speed up to 300 Mbit/s and two external antennas with 3dBi power. Thanks to the external antennas, we get a strong and stable Wi-Fi signal reception. There is a SoftAP mode – you can distribute the Internet via Wi-Fi.

The adapter itself is made of white plastic. The antennas are foldable. There is a QSS button for quick connection to Wi-Fi networks. It is nice that there are rubber feet on the bottom, thanks to which the adapter does not slip and stands stably on the table.

In general, when installing and configuring Wi-Fi adapters, there are problems with drivers and compatibility with different versions of Windows. In this article, I will show you how to find a driver for your hardware version of TP-Link TL-WN822N. We'll also look at different problems: when the adapter doesn't work, or doesn't see Wi-Fi networks.

This is quite a popular model, which has been on the market for a very long time. There are already 5 hardware versions of this adapter. And in the reviews there is a lot of information from which you can understand whether this adapter will work for example in Windows 10, what hardware version is needed, what driver to download, etc.

Connecting and installing the driver for TP-Link TL-WN822N

Connecting TP-Link TL-WN822N

Wait for about 15 seconds and see if the system has automatically detected the adapter. As I wrote above, Windows 10 can install the driver itself. A Wi-Fi network icon should appear (bottom right) . This means that you can connect to Wi-Fi networks. Or you can check in the Device Manager. If the Wireless Network Adapter, WLAN, or 802.11 appears there, everything is fine, you don't need to install anything else.

If the adapter is detected but does not see the Wi-Fi network (red cross on the icon) , see the solution at the end of the article.

Don't forget that the adapter comes with a disk. There are drivers on it for a certain hardware version. And you can install them from there. But it is better, of course, to download everything from the official website. There are always the latest drivers.

Select your hardware version (how to determine it, I showed above in this article) and go to the tab "Driver".

Then follow the same steps as in the installation with the disk. The computer must be rebooted for all changes and settings to take effect. When installed correctly, "TP Link Wireless USB adapter" appears in the Task Manager instead of the device name.

Configurable parameters and possible problems

After starting the adapter program, the SoftAP section opens. To make the settings:

The driver is installed automatically after the device is connected to the PC. In very rare situations you may need to do it manually. Often this is due to the capabilities of the operating system.

Signal dropout and connection speed slowdown can be observed when traffic is distributed to a large number of devices at once or in thick-walled rooms (presence of iron barriers and other obstacles). It is also recommended to stick to a certain range in the capture radius.

If you can't find the Wi-Fi network after correctly installing the adapter, you need to check the WLAN settings in the Administration – Local Services folder. For a quick start, use the "Run" command from the Start menu or the key combination "Win+R". In the search box enter "services.msc". Through the service Autosetup selects the automatic startup type.

If the parameters are set correctly and the settings are made, there should be no failure in the operation of the device. But if it was not possible to connect, to any network, then probably the problem is related to hardware or software malfunctions of the computer.

Method 4: Using Hardware ID

"Device Manager." Windows, among other things, also contains information about the hardware ID (ID or HWID) of each device that is included in the system. After copying this code, you can search for the driver on specialized sites. Here is a link to an article with detailed instructions.

Method 5: Built-in Windows tools

Windows provides us with enough built-in tools to install or update drivers. All of them are included in the standard "Device Manager and allow both manual and automatic operations. The instructions in the article linked below are valid for all versions of Windows, starting from Vista.

Take your time with the installation. It is quite possible that the system has installed the driver itself and the adapter is already ready to work. In my case, Windows 10 automatically installed the driver for my TL-WN725N, and it worked right away. The connection status will be like this:

Auto configuration of TL-WN725N in Windows 10

This means that the computer already sees Wi-Fi networks and you can connect to them.

If in your case, the connection status does not change, or the message that Windows failed to install the device (driver), you need to put it manually. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Install the driver from the disk that comes with the package. It's easy, run the disk and follow the instructions. Also from the disk you can put a utility. But there is no special need in it.
  2. Download the driver (together with the utility) from the TP-Link website and install.

If you choose the second option, you first need to find out the hardware version of the adapter. There is V1 and V2. It is indicated on the package:

If necessary, change the hardware version of the adapter (if you do not have V2) .

    Possible Problems and Solutions

Let's take a look at the most frequently encountered problems.

    TP-Link TL-WN722N does not see Wi-Fi

    • The computer doesn't see the TP-Link TL-WN722N. If you plug the adapter into the USB port of the computer and Wi-Fi does not appear, then most likely you just need to install the drivers. I wrote about this above. Go to Device Manager and check. If the computer does not react at all to the connection of the adapter, nothing appears in the Device Manager, then try plugging it into another USB port. Do not use a USB extension cord. Check on another computer, or laptop.
    • If the TL-WN722N does not see the Wi-Fi network. There are no available connections. The most popular problem. Everything seems to be working, but the list of available wireless networks is not displayed. But other devices can see available networks. Most often it happens because the WLAN Autosetup service is disabled in Windows. You need to check and if it is disabled, run it.
In the article WLAN Autosetup Service. What it is and how to enable it in Window, I wrote about it in more detail. Also, make sure that there is a wireless network signal where the adapter is installed. Check if the antenna is screwed on well.
    • Low speeds, dropped connections. The first thing to do is to disable the Wi-Fi adapter to save power. I wrote how to do it here. Reinstall the driver. Try to install from the disk. If you have Windows 10, try the solutions in the article: Wi-Fi in Windows 10 is disconnected.

If you encounter any other problems, write about them in the comments. Especially if you know the solutions 🙂

TL-WN722N as an access point (giving out Wi-Fi)
